Religious Education WB 11/5/2020

For Religious Education this week we would like you to spend some time learning about the Pentecost, there are lots of questions for you to be thinking about and discussing as well as an art activity to support your learning. 

MEP Maths

 

The majority of our maths learning in school is through MEP maths. There is now a site specifically for home learning. In Year 4 we will be working from book 4. Please work through the pages at your desired pace. In school we aim for a page a day but there is no pressure to do the same at home. If book 4 is too difficult for your child feel free to look at book 3 as well.

If you would like some additional science to keep you busy, we have set you some 2do activities on Purple Mash. Each activity will help support your learning of Human teeth and the Digestive System. 

For your science we would like you to carry out an experiment investigating the effect of different liquids on your teeth.

We have attached a PPT with further details and expanations, as well as some worksheets, so that you can plan, predict, observe and analyse your experiment.

Reading Comprehension WB 27.4.2020

In our reading lessons we use the acronym DERIC to support our comprehension – 

DERIC stands for:

D: Decoding words

E: Explaining new vocabulary

R: Retrieving infomation

I: Interpreting infomation

C: Choice (thinking about the choices made by the author/director/artist)

In Religious Education Year 4 have spent a lot of time learning about Hinduism. Can you consolidate your learning by working through these activities...

Year 4 will be now looking at 'Animals Including Humans' in their science work. 

 

The first part of the topic is all about the digestive system. The children have to label and give the function of each part of the digestive system. There is a PowerPoint attached with all key information. On the PowerPoint there is also some links for helpful websites.The children have to complete the sheet provided, if you are unable to print the sheet, please ask your child to write notes in their preferred format. 

Week beginning 11/05/2020. Literacy: Create a storyboard to the story of 'Bowerman's Nose.' Use the storyboard template and storyboard example to help you. Include speech between your characters.

You can also try creating your storyboard to 'Bowerman's Nose' on Purple Mash.

National Trust - 50  things to do... 

As well as your school work we also want to make sure you are having lots of fun at home too. The National Trust have released a list of 50 things to do before you are 11 and 3/4. 

How many of these have you done?  Or could try in the next few week. Remember to only take part in the activities you can safely do in lockdown.

Miss Thomas and Miss Lydon would love to see pictures of you completing things on the list. 

Music- Charanga now has allocated tasks for both Y4 classes to complete. 

We have also added a guitar unit to allow those who are having lessons in school to continue their hard work at home.
